Vintage Radios: Ultra R906 de-luxe version (aka Coronation Twin)
Ultra Electric Products
: Ultra R906 de-luxe version (aka Coronation Twin)

Supplied by:

This picture was kindly supplied by Bernd Neumann (Germany).  After reading my comments on the R786 Coronation twin and the issuing of a de-luxe version that I had never seen, Bernd sent this image.  He quite understandably states that this is one of his favourite radios - thanks Bernd!

Power: AC or DC Mains 235-250V, 215-234V, 200-214V 40/100 cps, or battery; H.T. 85 volts, L.T. 7.5 volts
Wavebands: Two; LW (1200 to 2000m), MW (200 to 550m)
Controls: Left knob on/off/volume and the right knob for tuning centrally placed sliding switch for waveband select.
Design: What can I say!  It is supposed to be crocodile skin, but looks just like snake to me.  Two sliding doors cover the front area to protect it from.... crocodile hunters I presume!
Date: 1953
Manufacturer: Ultra Electric Ltd.
Comments: Launched to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
Line up: IC2, IF3, IFD9, IP11 ( Mazda), plus metal rectifier
