Wavebands: Two; LW (1200 to 2000m), MW (200 to 550m)
Controls: Left knob on/off/volume and the right knob for tuning centrally placed sliding switch for waveband select.
Design: Lovely solid portable in solid dark plum and cream.  Ultra-type ridges on the sides.  Carry handle always proud of the top. Bakelite back hinges up by pressing on two lugs, whilst a further smaller compartment opens to reveal the mains cable with two-pin plug.  Woven plastic speaker grill is accentuated by the central Ultra "Coat of Arms" badge.  Brown and cream wave length Perspex is not as dull as it sounds.  Raised escutcheon around the knobs is a nice touch.

Comments: A classic battery mains portable that typifies the design of Ultra in the 1950's. Launched to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Basic station listing with only one foreign station; Athlone.  Internal frame aerial on back panel.  There was a de-luxe version in crocodile skin the Ultra R906.
