from a two-piece beige plastic case with a large round clear plastic lens
with numerous patterns. A white plastic turning lock on the
underside releases the rear section for battery insertion. A large white
on/off switch on the top is labelled with raised designs for "lamp
and lamp with radial lines".
The switch is based around a simple lever assembly that makes contact with a stiff copper wire/clear plastic former construction that sits around the bulb end.
The rear houses a sturdy metal clamp with two bolts and opposing flat metal plate.
Made in Britain, "Use two Ever Ready SP2 batteries (RP20) & No. 2170 bulb (Ref 278)"

|I have observed on the web versions with a simpler lens design and a red upper switch. Any help with the date would be most welcome.|
